Tips for getting the best Elizabeth City vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Elizabeth City. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Elizabeth City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Elizabeth City area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Elizabeth City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Luxury condo with river views, private parking, and steps from Pailin's Alley has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Elizabeth City rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
