Elizabeth City rental home booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Elizabeth City area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Elizabeth City area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Elizabeth City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Comfort & Quiet in a Central location has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a specific Elizabeth City destination you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
